Incidence of Complications from Percutaneous Biopsy in Chronic Liver Disease: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Helena B. Thomaides-Brears et al.

Summary: The study revealed that the incidence of major complications from percutaneous liver biopsy was 2.44%, with mortality at 0.01%, hospitalization at 0.65%, major bleeding at 0.48%, and moderate/severe pain at 0.34%. Furthermore, technical failure was found to be high at 0.91%.

LiverScreen project: study protocol for screening for liver fibrosis in the general population in European countries

Isabel Graupera et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the utility of non-invasive tools in identifying individuals with asymptomatic, advanced chronic liver disease in the general population. With 30,000 subjects from eight European countries, the study will assess liver stiffness and bloodwork to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of such screening tools.

Intravoxel incoherent motion diffusion-weighted MRI for the characterization of inflammation in chronic liver disease

Thierry Lefebvre et al.

Summary: The study found that IVIM parameters f strongly correlated, D weakly correlated, and D* moderately correlated with inflammation. The perfusion fraction f accurately graded inflammation and showed promise as a biomarker of hepatic inflammation.

Noninvasive evaluation of liver fibrosis: comparison of the stretched exponential diffusion-weighted model to other diffusion-weighted MRI models and transient elastography

Jae Hyon Park et al.

Summary: The distributed diffusion coefficient (DDC) from the stretched exponential model was found to be the most accurate DWI parameter for diagnosing liver fibrosis, showing significant correlation with fibrosis and inflammation but not with steatosis. DDC demonstrated similar diagnostic performance to transient elastography (TE), with no significant difference between the two methods.

Comparison of mono-exponential, bi-exponential, and stretched exponential diffusion-weighted MR imaging models in differentiating hepatic hemangiomas from liver metastases

Summary: This study aimed to compare the diagnostic values of different diffusion-weighted imaging models in differentiating hepatic hemangiomas and liver metastases. The results showed that ADC and DDC values can be considered as quantitative imaging biomarkers for distinguishing these two types of liver lesions.
