Summary: The solid-state luminescence technology plays a crucial role in addressing the current energy consumption issue. In this study, Bi3+ and Tb3+ activated Ca2LaTaO6 phosphors were prepared using a solid phase reaction technique. The structural properties, as well as the photoluminescence characteristics, were analyzed in detail. The adjustable multicolor emission was achieved through efficient energy transfer from Bi3+ to Tb3+ ions, demonstrating a potential application of the CLTO:Bi3+,Tb3+ phosphors in UV LEDs.

Optical spectroscopy and thermally stable characteristics of Ce3+/Tb3+/Eu3+ triply doped Na5Y9F32 single crystals for white light emission

Lizhi Fang et al.

Summary: In this study, Na5Y9F32 single crystals incorporated with fixed 0.4 mol% Ce3+, 0.5 mol% Eu3+ and various Tb3+ ion concentrations were synthesized, and the effects of Tb3+ ion concentration and exciting wavelength on the fluorescence spectra of the single crystals were investigated. The results showed that the energy transfers among Ce3+, Tb3+ and Eu3+ ions were responsible for the changes of emissions, and increasing Tb3+ ion concentration can shift the emission from blue to white. Moreover, the single crystal exhibited high quantum efficiency and optical thermal stability, making it a promising optical device material.

Reproducible X-ray excited luminescence performance with transparent Tb3+-doped NaGd2F7 scintillating glass ceramics

Fangfang Hu et al.

Summary: In this study, NaGd2F7:xTb3+ (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4) glass ceramics were successfully synthesized as scintillating material with low toxicity, high stability, and strong X-ray excited luminescence. The structure and morphology of NaGd2F7 glass ceramics were investigated, demonstrating the uniform distribution of NaGd2F7 nanocrystals in the glass matrix. The photoluminescence and X-ray excitation spectra were significantly enhanced after thermal treatment, indicating improved crystallization of NaGd2F7 glass ceramics. The X-ray excited luminescence intensity of the GC2-640 sample reached 143.8% of the commercial BGO. Additionally, the damaged material could be completely repaired through annealing. These findings suggest that Tb-doped transparent NaGd2F7 glass ceramics have the potential to be utilized as X-ray scintillating material.
