Optimization and characterization of detector and trigger system for a KAPAE design

Dong Woo Jeong et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the development of the trigger and gamma-ray detection setup for the KAPAE detector, including determining the suitable thickness of plastic scintillator for positron trigger, creating an environment to reduce the pick-off effect for 3-gamma annihilation, evaluating the BGO crystals' light yield and energy resolution uniformity, as well as selecting the best suitable reflector. The results confirm the suitability of PEN film plastic scintillator and aerogel for positron trigger and annihilation environment, and validate the application of BGO crystals for gamma-ray detection in the KAPAE detector with VM2000 identified as the best reflector.

Testing CPT symmetry in ortho-positronium decays with positronium annihilation tomography

P. Moskal et al.

Summary: Charged lepton system symmetry under combined charge, parity, and time-reversal transformation (CPT) remains scarcely tested. Despite stringent quantum-electrodynamic limits, discrepancies in predictions for the electron-positron bound state (positronium atom) motivate further investigation, including fundamental symmetry tests. The authors use positron-emission tomography scanner to find no violation with a statistical precision of 10(-4), showcasing an over threefold improvement in the measurement precision.

Positronium imaging with the novel multiphoton PET scanner

Pawel Moskal et al.

Summary: This study presents a new method for positronium imaging by simultaneous registration of annihilation photons and deexcitation photons from pharmaceuticals labeled with radionuclides, demonstrating the first positronium imaging of a model. It is anticipated that positronium imaging will substantially enhance the specificity of PET diagnostics.
