Novel approach for the synthesis of 2-arylfuro[3,2-b]pyran-3-carbaldehydes based on acid-catalyzed cyclization of allomaltol containing enaminones

Andrey N. Komogortsev et al.

Summary: A novel and efficient approach for the synthesis of various 2-arylsubstituted furo[3,2-b]pyran-3-carbaldehydes has been developed. The method involves acid-catalyzed cyclization of enaminones bearing allomaltol fragment. Unlike previous approaches, this method offers a different direction of heterocyclization resulting in 2-arylsubstituted furo[3,2-b]pyran-3-carbaldehydes. The synthesis offers advantages such as easily accessible starting compounds, mild reaction conditions, and simple workup procedure without the need for chromatographic purification. The utility of the obtained aldehydes has been demonstrated through the preparation of various derivatives, and the structure of one compound was confirmed by X-ray diffraction.

Synthesis of substituted 2-arylfuro[3,2-b]pyrans via acid-catalyzed recyclization of 2-aminofurans containing allomaltol fragment

Andrey N. Komogortsev et al.

Summary: We proposed a novel one-step approach for synthesizing 2-arylfuro[3,2-b]pyran derivatives. This method involves the acid-catalyzed recyclization of 2-aminofurans with allomaltol fragment. The starting 2-amino-3-cyanofurans were successfully converted into the desired products containing cyanomethyl or carbamoyl fragments, and the use of readily available starting compounds and simple work-up procedure without chromatographic purification are advantageous. Additionally, the structure of one synthesized product was determined by X-Ray diffraction.

Biological activities and safety data of kojic acid and its derivatives: A review

Julia Capp Zilles et al.

Summary: Kojic acid and its derivatives present a variety of applications for human use, including depigmentation, antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, radioprotective, anticonvulsant, and obesity management activities. The depigmentation activity is attributed to their binding to tyrosinase active site, regulation of melanogenesis factors, leucocytes modulation, and free radical scavenging. They also exhibit cytotoxicity to certain cancer cell lines. In terms of safety, they are considered safe for human use at tested concentrations. Kojic acid and its derivatives hold great potential for cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and medical applications.
