Reduced graphene oxide supported on Gd2MoO6-ZnO nanorod photocatalysts used for the effective reduction of hexavalent chromium

In this study, a hierarchical heterojunction involving vacancy-defect TiO2 quantum dots and 2D g-C3N4 nanosheets was constructed, showing over 10-fold increase in hydrogen evolution reaction for photocatalytic water splitting.

Ambient-Stable Black Phosphorus-Based 2D/2D S-Scheme Heterojunction for Efficient Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction to Syngas

Summary: An ambient-stable and effective 2D/2D heterostructure of BP/bismuth tungstate (Bi2WO6) with oxygen vacancy is designed for syngas production via photocatalytic CO2 reduction, resolving the stability problem of BP nanosheets and greatly improving charge transfer efficiency. This work achieves high generation rates of CO and H2, along with desirable CO/H2 ratios for industrial applications, making it an efficient and ambient-stable BP-based photocatalyst for syngas production by CO2 reduction at mild conditions.

Step-Scheme Heterojunction between CdS Nanowires and Facet-Selective Assembly of MnOx-BiVO4 for an Efficient Visible-Light-Driven Overall Water Splitting

Summary: The spatial separation and transport of photo-generated charge carriers are crucial for the efficiency of a photocatalyst for solar energy conversion. In this study, a step-scheme CdS/MnOx-BiVO4 photocatalyst was synthesized and showed excellent photocatalytic activity for overall water-splitting reaction under visible light irradiation without sacrificial reagents. The presence of oxygen vacancies, effective charge separation/transfer properties, and strong interaction of cocatalysts with the photocatalysts in the heterojunction contributed to the high photoactivity.
