Detection of lead content in oilseed rape leaves and roots based on deep transfer learning and hyperspectral imaging technology

Xin Zhou et al.

Summary: The evaluation capability of hyperspectral imaging technology for forecasting heavy metal lead concentration in oilseed rape plants was studied. A transfer stacked auto-encoder (T-SAE) algorithm, including dual-model and single-model T-SAE, was proposed. The hyper -spectral images of oilseed rape leaf and root under different Pb stress concentrations were acquired. Preprocessing methods like SNV and 1st Der were used to extract the spectral data, and PCA algorithm was employed for dimensionality reduction. Deep learning networks were built and T-SAE models were obtained through transfer learning. The results showed high accuracy in predicting Pb stress gradient and content in oilseed rape plants.

Root characteristics critical for cadmium tolerance and reduced accumulation in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

Dazhong Zhang et al.

Summary: Root structural characteristics play a key role in the absorption and root-shoot transport of Cd in wheat. Longer root length, smaller root diameter, and more numerous root tips are conducive to Cd absorption, while thicker roots can reduce root-shoot transport and improve Cd tolerance. The up-regulation of certain genes related to Cd compartmentalization is associated with increased Cd tolerance and decreased translocation in wheat.

High throughput analysis of leaf chlorophyll content in sorghum using RGB, hyperspectral, and fluorescence imaging and sensor fusion

Huichun Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the estimation of chlorophyll content in sorghum plants using RGB, hyperspectral, and fluorescence imaging modules. The results showed that features extracted from these images, including color features, spectral indices, and fluorescence intensity, could predict chlorophyll content. By combining these features and using the PLSR model, accurate prediction of chlorophyll content in sorghum was achieved. In addition, the inclusion of specific leaf weight (SLW) improved the predictive accuracy.
