Wall-modeled large-eddy simulation of a trailing-edge serration-finlet configuration

Yuejun Shi et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel trailing-edge treatment for reducing airfoil self-noise: a serration-finlet configuration, which has the potential to reduce noise at all frequencies for wind turbines and future ultra-quiet aircraft. Simulation results show that the serration-finlet configuration can reduce far-field noise and improve aerodynamic performance by enhancing the fluid field at the source locations. The interaction between serrations and finlets proves to be beneficial for both aerodynamic and aeroacoustic aspects.
