The Liquid Young?s Law on SLIPS: Liquid-Liquid Interfacial Tensions and Zisman Plots

Glen McHale et al.

Summary: Liquid-liquid interfacial tensions can be deduced from the apparent contact angles on SLIPS, providing valuable insight into liquid-liquid interactions and the wetting of a liquid surface by another liquid.

Simulation of a bubble rising at high Reynolds number with mass-conserving finite element lattice Boltzmann method

Lina Baroudi et al.

Summary: This work presents a mass-conserving FE-LBE method for simulating bubble rising in viscous fluid at high Reynolds number with large material property contrast. Extensive investigations show good numerical accuracy and stability, with the simulated results demonstrating consistency with experimental data and significant improvement in mass conservation compared to previous models.

The engulfment of aqueous droplets on perfectly wetting oil layers

Callum Cuttle et al.

Summary: Experiments showed that the process of droplet engulfment involves rapid submersion driven by capillary forces on the oil surface, followed by a slower peeling of the droplet from the interface. Both geometric constraints and gravity play essential roles in the completion of droplet engulfment. The longest engulfment times are observed for droplets of intermediate size due to the opposing effects of geometry and gravity.

Apparent contact angle of drops on liquid infused surfaces: geometric interpretation

Ciro Semprebon et al.

Summary: In this theoretical investigation, we explored the apparent contact angle of drops on liquid infused surfaces and found that the rotation of the Neumann triangle at the lubricant-drop-gas contact line contributes to the variation in the apparent contact angle. We also derived linear and quadratic corrections to the apparent contact angle based on power series expansion in terms of pressure differences between the lubricant, drop, and gas phases. These expressions are simpler and more compact compared to previous research by Semprebon et al.
