Association between exposure to cadmium and risk of all-cause and cause-specific mortality in the general US adults: A prospective cohort study

Zhi Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the association between blood cadmium levels and mortality risk in adults. The results showed that higher cadmium exposure was associated with increased risks of all-cause and specific-cause mortality. Furthermore, smoking status and age also played important roles in this association.

Cancer Mortality and Long-Term Environmental Exposure of Cadmium in Contaminated Community Based on a Third Retrospective Cause of Death Investigation of Residents Living in the Guangdong Province from 2004 to 2005

Aili Jiang et al.

Summary: The study found that soil cadmium exposure may increase the mortality rate of various types of cancer, particularly esophageal, stomach, liver, and lung cancers. Additionally, significant associations were observed between soil cadmium levels and cancer mortality risk in the Chinese population across different age groups.

Ten years of research on synergisms and antagonisms in chemical mixtures: A systematic review and quantitative reappraisal of mixture studies

Olwenn Martin et al.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review and quantitative reassessment of experimental mixture studies over the past 10 years, finding that approximately one quarter of studies claimed synergistic or antagonistic effects, while another quarter arrived at different evaluations. Although the majority of studies did not exceed acceptable between-study variability, and observed mixture doses were usually within two-fold higher or lower than predicted additive doses, there were still relatively few cases of synergistic or antagonistic effects that stood up to scrutiny.

Human biomonitoring initiative (HBM4EU): Human biomonitoring guidance values (HBM-GVs) derived for cadmium and its compounds

Farida Lamkarkach et al.

Summary: This study used the methodology agreed upon within the HBM4EU project to derive HBMGVs for the general population and workers exposed to cadmium. Renal effects were selected as the critical effect for both groups based on epidemiological studies, with different key studies chosen for the general population and workers. Results recommended specific HBM-GVs for U-Cd levels in different age groups, with additional recommendations for B-Cd levels for workers.

Summary: Seasonal influenza vaccination during pregnancy was not significantly associated with adverse early childhood health outcomes among offspring. This population-based cohort study provides evidence on the safety of maternal influenza vaccination during pregnancy in relation to early childhood health outcomes in Nova Scotia, Canada.
