Molecular Insights into Salinity Responsiveness in Contrasting Genotypes of Rice at the Seedling Stage

Jingjing Zhang et al.

Summary: Salinity is a common environmental stress that limits plant growth and development. This study investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying the response of rice to salinity stress at the seedling stage. Through screening and transcriptome profiling, the study identified metabolic pathways and specific genes involved in the response to salinity stress in rice seedlings. The study also highlighted the importance of high-affinity K+ transporters in the salt stress response. These findings provide a valuable resource for researchers studying plant responses to salinity at the seedling stage.

Broad-spectrum stress tolerance conferred by suppressing jasmonate signaling attenuation in Arabidopsis JASMONIC ACID OXIDASE mutants

Valentin Marquis et al.

Summary: Jasmonate signaling for adaptative or developmental responses relies on increased synthesis of the hormone JA-Ile, with JAO2 playing a key role in modulating JA responses and enhancing stress resilience by pre-activating mild transcriptional programs. The JAO2 regulatory node controls a selected spectrum of JA responses and has the potential to modulate basal JA turnover for multiple stress resilience.

Jasmonates and Plant Salt Stress: Molecular Players, Physiological Effects, and Improving Tolerance by Using Genome-Associated Tools

Celia Delgado et al.

Summary: Soil salinity is a major limiting factor for crop productivity, and jasmonates (JAs) have been identified as important phytohormones in mediating plant response to salt stress. Molecular components of the JA-signaling pathway play key roles in the JA-associated response to salt stress, and exogenous JA applications can enhance antioxidant response in plants. Research is focusing on using genomic techniques to improve crop tolerance to salt stress, with an emphasis on jasmonates.
