On the Subjective Value of Life

Ognjen Arandjelovic

Summary: Claims of the inherent worth of life are commonly accepted without question, but they are essentially remnants of theological ethics lacking theological support. A framework based on sentient experiences can determine the subjective value of life, including the understanding of suicide as a philosophical problem. This framework rejects the inherent worth of life and demonstrates that this value emerges from the subject's experiences, which are closely linked to the experiences of other sentient beings.
