3D-printed microgels supplemented with dentin matrix molecules as a novel biomaterial for direct pulp capping

Diana Cunha et al.

Summary: This study developed a 3D-printed microgel supplemented with dentin matrix molecules (DMM) as a novel regenerative strategy for dental pulp capping. The results showed that the microgel with DMM had favorable cellular and inflammatory pulp responses, leading to the formation of organized pulp tissue, tertiary dentin, and new blood vessels. Compared to traditional treatment methods, the microgel with DMM showed better outcomes in promoting dentin bridge formation and reducing pulp necrosis.

Chondroitin Sulfate Enhances Proliferation and Migration via Inducing β-Catenin and Intracellular ROS as Well as Suppressing Metalloproteinases through Akt/NF-KB Pathway Inhibition in Human Chondrocytes

H-C Hsu et al.

Summary: In this study, it was demonstrated that chondroitin sulfate (CS) can induce the proliferation and migration of chondrocytes by activating beta-catenin and enhancing reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. Additionally, CS was found to increase chondrocyte activity and aid in restoring cartilage function in patients with osteoarthritis.

Vitronectin-Derived Peptide Promotes Reparative Dentin Formation

C. Park et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that VnP-16 promotes odontoblast differentiation, mineralization, and reparative dentin formation in a pulp exposure model. VnP-16 showed comparable effects to vitronectin in promoting cellular behavior in human dental pulp cells. It also induced reparative dentin formation similar to MTA and rhBMP-2 without causing inflammation.

Functional Hydrogels with Chondroitin Sulfate Release Properties Regulate the Angiogenesis Behaviors of Endothelial Cells

Haonan Wang et al.

Summary: This study designed gelatin-based hydrogels loaded with chondroitin sulfate (CS) to regulate the angiogenesis behaviors of endothelial cells (ECs). The hydrogels exhibited excellent biocompatibility and hemocompatibility, and significantly promoted ECs angiogenesis behaviors. However, excessive loading of CS weakened the effect.

Histological evaluation of the regenerative potential of a novel treated dentin matrix hydrogel in direct pulp capping

Ahmed A. Holiel et al.

Summary: In this clinical study, it was found that using TDMH, Biodentine, and MTA for direct pulp capping showed good dentin regeneration ability with no inflammatory response. However, the dentin formed in the TDMH group was significantly thicker with well-arranged odontoblasts, indicating a positive trend towards dentin regeneration.

Notoginsenoside R1 functionalized gelatin hydrogels to promote reparative dentinogenesis

Lei Wang et al.

Summary: Injectable colloidal gels loaded with notoginsenoside R1 were developed to induce reparative dentin formation through a simple UV method. Physicochemical examinations showed appropriate microarchitecture and mechanical properties of the Gel-MA/NGR1 hydrogel. In vivo stimulation demonstrated a significant increase in dentin formation, suggesting the potential of Gel-MA/NGR1 as a pulp-capping material.

Tomographic evaluation of direct pulp capping using a novel injectable treated dentin matrix hydrogel: a 2-year randomized controlled clinical trial

Ahmed A. Holiel et al.

Summary: The study assessed the success of pulp capping using TDMH, Biodentine, and MTA in traumatized permanent posterior teeth. The TDMH group showed superior dentin bridges in terms of radiodensity and thickness compared to Biodentine and MTA. CBCT imaging was confirmed as a non-invasive approach to evaluate dentin bridges after pulp capping.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of dental adhesive material containing different proportions of naHAp on odontoblastic differentiation of dental pulp stem cells and reparative dentin formation. The results showed that 30% naHAp/SB promoted odontoblastic differentiation of dental pulp stem cells and dense reparative dentin formation in an experimentally-formed rat dental pulp exposure model.

Fabrication and assessment of chondroitin sulfate-modified collagen nanofibers for small-diameter vascular tissue engineering applications

Weibin Jia et al.

Summary: Chondroitin sulfate modified collagen electrospun nanofibers stimulated endothelial cell behavior, alleviated thrombocyte activation, and maintained an antithrombotic effect in vivo 10 days post-transplantation. The ChS-COL scaffolds encouraged rapid endothelialization, potentially ensuring long-term implantation of the antithrombotic function, promising for small diameter vascular tissue engineering applications.
