On the vanishing rigid body problem in a viscous compressible fluid

Marco Bravin et al.

Summary: This study investigates the interaction between a small solid body and a viscous compressible fluid. The research focuses on a bounded three-dimensional domain, where the solid body is allowed to move freely according to Newton's laws. The paper presents a result of homogenization in the case of fluid-structure interaction under compressible conditions, showing that the fluid plus rigid body system converges to the compressible Navier-Stokes system as the size of the body approaches zero, subject to certain lower bound conditions on mass and inertia momentum. The study also provides a slight improvement on the understanding of the influence of a vanishing obstacle in a compressible fluid for gamma >= 6.

A Uniqueness Result for 3D Incompressible Fluid-Rigid Body Interaction Problem

Boris Muha et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the interaction of fluid flow with a rigid body through dynamical and kinematic coupling conditions in a 3D nonlinear moving boundary problem. It proves that weak solutions satisfying the Prodi-Serrin L-r-L-s condition are unique in the class of Leray-Hopf weak solutions.

On the small rigid body limit in 3D incompressible flows

Jiao He et al.

Summary: The evolution of a small rigid body in an incompressible viscous fluid filling the whole space is studied. It is proven that under certain assumptions, the solution of the fluid-rigid body system converges to a solution of the Navier-Stokes equations in the absence of the rigid body.

Lp-strong solution to fluid-rigid body interaction system with Navier slip boundary condition

Hind Al Baba et al.

Summary: The study investigates fluid-structure interaction problem of a rigid body moving inside a viscous fluid, considering both Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. It establishes the existence and regularity of solutions, globally for small data in the Newtonian case and locally for non-Newtonian case, with proofs based on linear system properties and sectoriality of corresponding operator. The study also discusses the exponential stability of the system in the Newtonian case.
