Summary: Loading of propolis using genipin as a crosslinking agent and fabrication of PVA/Chitosan-Propolis membrane scaffolds for wound dressing applications were studied. Propolis significantly affected the properties of the membrane, with the propolis-incorporated membrane showing high cell proliferation rates.

Hard core proof of the polyvinyl alcohol as a reducer for the formation of gold nanoparticles

Summary: This paper reports the direct synthesis of water dispersed gold nanoparticles encapsulated in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as a reducer and capping agent. The nanoparticles were found to have a fcc crystal structure with a size of around 22 nm, as confirmed by XRD and SEM analysis. The UV-visible analysis showed a surface plasmon resonance band at approximately 550 nm, confirming the formation of gold nanoparticles, which was further supported by EDX analysis.
