Core-shell chitosan/PVA-based nanofibrous scaffolds loaded with Satureja mutica or Oliveria decumbens essential oils as enhanced antimicrobial wound dressing

Sajjad Barzegar et al.

Summary: The study developed core-shell nanofibrous scaffolds based on chitosan with antioxidant and antimicrobial properties, encapsulating Satureja mutica or Oliveria decumbens essential oils. The scaffolds exhibited uniform structure, good mechanical properties, enhanced antioxidant activity, and broadened antimicrobial activity when loaded with essential oils. These results suggest that the CS/PVA/EO-PVP/MD nanofibrous scaffolds are promising candidates for wound dressing applications.
