Citrate functionalized gold nanoparticles assisted micro extraction of L-cysteine in milk and water samples using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy

Beeta Rani Khalkho et al.

Summary: The sensing application of citrate-functionalized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) for the determination of L-cysteine in food and water samples was successfully demonstrated in this study. The aggregation of AuNPs enhanced the signal intensity of L-cysteine, resulting in effective absorption of electromagnetic radiation in the IR region for molecular vibration. The theoretical investigation and experimental results confirmed the interaction between AuNPs and L-cysteine molecules, leading to a shift in plasmon bands and aggregation of particles.

Somatostatin Receptor 2 Expression Profiles and Their Correlation with the Efficacy of Somatostatin Analogues in Gastrointestinal Neuroendocrine Tumors

Hirofumiip Watanabe et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the significance of SSTR2 immunoreactivity in gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumors (GI-NETs) using digital image analysis (DIA) and other methods. The results showed that SSTR2 immunoreactivity varied according to the primary sites and was correlated with proliferative activity. Additionally, DIA was found to be a good alternative for predicting response to somatostatin analogues (SSAs) in evaluating SSTR2 immunoreactivity of GI-NETs.

GMT8 aptamer conjugated PEGylated Ag@Au core-shell nanoparticles as a novel radiosensitizer for targeted radiotherapy of glioma

Dongdong Li et al.

Summary: This study developed polyethylene glycol-coated Ag@Au core-shell nanoparticles (PSGNPs) modified with GMT8 aptamer (GSGNPs) and evaluated their radiosensitization effects on glioma cells through in vivo and in vitro experiments. The results demonstrated that GSGNPs showed good targeting ability, enhanced sensitization effect, and prolonged median survival time of mice bearing U87 glioma after intravenous administration combined with radiotherapy.

Promoting reactive oxygen species generation: a key strategy in nanosensitizer-mediated radiotherapy

Shichong Jia et al.

Summary: The radiotherapy enhancement effect of numerous nanosensitizers is based on the excessive production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Understanding the role of ROS in radiosensitization is necessary, as it has double-edged sword effects and potential dangers. Future perspectives regarding ROS-regulated nanosensitizer applications and development need to be discussed.

Summary: This study introduces a novel formulation of siRNA nanoparticles, termed RTNs, which can target tumors effectively while minimizing clearance by the liver, resulting in predominant accumulation in tumors rather than other organs in the body. The experiment demonstrates that these siRNA nanoparticles significantly retard the growth of xenograft tumors and improve survival rates, showing promise for delivering targeted siRNA therapeutics for cancer treatment.
