Heritage hydrology: a conceptual framework for understanding water fluxes and storage in built and rock-hewn heritage

Oliver Sass et al.

Summary: Water is crucial in the deterioration and preservation of built and rock-hewn heritage, and climate change has significant impact on the environmental control of stone decay. Heritage hydrology provides a holistic framework to understand the interaction between water and building materials. Spatial and temporal patterns of moisture vary between different sites and scales, highlighting the need to investigate influencing factors and scales for moisture variations.

Application of Anti-Moisture Technologies in Historical Constructions from the Perspective of Sustainability

Patrik Stastny et al.

Summary: The restoration of landmarks affected by moisture is closely tied to the concept of sustainability, and the article examines individual remediation technologies used on historical buildings in Slovakia. Interventions have shown positive impacts on moisture problems and surrounding environments while also contributing to sustainability by avoiding the need for demolishing renewed buildings. Recommendations from this study could be applied to other historic buildings as well.
