Evaluation of CADI Low Alloyed with Chromium for Camshafts Application

Alejandro Cruz Ramirez et al.

Summary: Different processing routes have been developed to increase the strength and hardness of camshafts for automotive applications. In this study, two carbidic austempered ductile irons (CADIs), alloyed with different chromium content, were evaluated for their suitability in camshaft production. Microscopy techniques and mechanical tests were performed to characterize the microstructure and mechanical properties of the CADIs. The results showed that the optimal processing conditions and material composition were determined.

Microstructural and Mechanical Assessment of Camshafts Produced by Ductile Cast Iron Low Alloyed with Vanadium

Eduardo Colin Garcia et al.

Summary: The study produced ductile iron camshafts alloyed with 0.2 and 0.3 wt % vanadium to investigate their microstructural and mechanical properties, revealing different characteristics in various regions. Increasing vanadium content enhances tensile properties but reduces toughness and ductility due to the increased volume fraction of carbide particles.
