Hybrid polymeric micelles stabilized by gallium ions: Structural investigation

Stephane Gineste et al.

Summary: The addition of gallium ions to a polymer solution leads to the formation of highly monodisperse micelles with a rigid core structure formed by the co localization of the poly(acrylic acid) blocks and gallium ions. This study provides a comprehensive structural characterization of the Gallium Hybrid PolyIon Complexes (HPICs) and demonstrates their potential in the development of new contrast agents for medical imaging.

Assembly of Poly(vinylphosphonic acid)-Based Double Hydrophilic Block Copolymers by Gadolinium Ions for the Formation of Highly Stable MRI Contrast Agents

Karolina H. Markiewicz et al.

Summary: Mixing double-hydrophilic block copolymers containing a poly(vinylphosphonic acid) block with gadolinium ions in water leads to the spontaneous formation of stable polymeric nanoparticles with an average diameter of about 20 nm. In vitro measurements show high magnetic relaxivities, and in vivo magnetic resonance imaging on rats demonstrates the great potential of these polymeric assemblies.

Hybrid Polymeric Nanostructures Stabilized by Ferric Cations with Photo-Fenton Performance: Implications for Recoverable Multicatalyst Design

Liming Peng et al.

Summary: Iron ions, as traditional Fenton reaction catalysts, have poor stability in aqueous solutions. Researchers have developed nanocatalysts with improved stability by complexing iron ions with double-hydrophilic block copolymers. These colloidal structures are chemically stable in a pH range of 3-7 and can be used for degrading organic pollutants in wastewater.

Cholesterol-Functionalized Linear/Brush Block Copolymers for Metal-Incorporated Nanostructures with Modulated Core Density and Enhanced Self-Assembly Efficiency

Yun-Ho Jeong et al.

Summary: By modifying polymer building blocks at the terminal end, a delicate control over the morphology regulation of metal-chelated nanostructures is achieved, providing additional hydrophobicity during metal-mediated self-assembly. The presence of cholesterol entities allows for density modulation of the final PtII-chelated nanostructures while maintaining colloidal stability.

Hybrid Polymeric Nanostructures Stabilized by Zirconium and Gadolinium Ions for Use as Magnetic Resonance Imaging Contrast Agents

Marjorie Yon et al.

Summary: A simple strategy is proposed in this study to form hybrid polyion complexes (HPICs) by mixing different metal ions, achieving both high chemical stability and desired properties in the nanostructures. Adjusting the content ratio of metal ions can modulate the chemical stability and enhance the magnetic relaxivity of HPICs, resulting in excellent contrast agent nano-objects.
