Amine and aldehyde functionalized mesoporous silica on magnetic nanoparticles for enhanced lipase immobilization, biodiesel production, and facile separation

Fahimeh Esmi et al.

Summary: Fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) was synthesized from olive oil using Rhizopus oryzae lipase (ROL) immobilized on mesoporous silica magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs). The immobilized lipase showed increased enzyme loading efficiency and led to a higher biodiesel production compared to other nanobiocatalysts, making it a suitable nanomaterial for ROL immobilization. The physico-chemical properties of the MNPs were characterized and correlated with their activities for biodiesel synthesis.

High-performance magnetite nanoparticles catalyst for biodiesel production: Immobilization of 12-tungstophosphoric acid on SBA-15 works effectively

Pingbo Zhang et al.

Summary: Magnetic mesoporous solid acid catalysts, modified by two different methods, exhibited ordered mesoporous structure and excellent paramagnetic properties, leading to high catalytic activity in the transesterification of palm oil with methanol for biodiesel production. Particularly, the catalyst prepared by the grafting method showed excellent reusability with over 80% biodiesel yield after 6 cycles, demonstrating promising industrial application prospects.
