Liquid-liquid equilibrium for ternary systems of water plus tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol plus isopentanol/1-hexanol at 303.2, 313.2, 323.2 K

Houchun Yan et al.

Summary: Liquid-liquid equilibrium (LLE) data of water + tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol (THFA) + isopentanol/1-hexanol were measured at different temperatures. The distribution coefficient and separation coefficient of THFA were used for evaluation. The NRTL and UNIQUAC models were employed to connect the measured data and calculate the binary interaction parameters. The consistency between the calculated parameters and experimental data was confirmed using GUI-MATLAB.

Effect of the Interactions between Oppositely Charged Cellulose Nanocrystals (CNCs) and Chitin Nanocrystals (ChNCs) on the Enhanced Stability of Soybean Oil-in-Water Emulsions

Sanjiv Parajuli et al.

Summary: Nanoconjugates of positively charged ChNCs and negatively charged CNCs were developed and found to stabilize emulsions better than individual CNC or ChNC. The optimal stabilizing ratio was found to be 1:1 for ChNC:CNC mass ratio.

Processes and separation technologies for the production of fuel-grade bioethanol: a review

Samira Karimi et al.

Summary: Bioethanol, produced from biological resources, is considered as an alternative, renewable, and sustainable energy source in the context of the circular economy. It has similar energy content to gasoline but emits less toxic pollutants compared to fossil fuels. The anhydrous form of bioethanol is essential for blending with regular gasoline, and pressure swing adsorption method is an effective and widely used technique for dehydration in bioethanol production.

Magnetically induced demulsification of water and castor oil dispersions stabilized by Fe3O4-coated cellulose nanocrystals

Mohammad J. Hasan et al.

Summary: Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles coated cellulose nanocrystals were synthesized and used to prepare emulsions with magnetically controlled stability. The hybrid NPs showed high saturation magnetizations and efficient stabilization for oil-in-water emulsions, demonstrating potential applications in magnetically driven separations, drug delivery, and oil recovery.

Facile fabrication and characterization of kraft lignin@Fe3O4 nanocomposites using pH driven precipitation: Effects on increasing lignin content

Frankie A. Petrie et al.

Summary: This work presents a facile method for fabricating lignin nanocomposites by assembling kraft lignin onto magnetic nanoparticles through pH-driven precipitation. The fabricated nanocomposites exhibit high lignin coverage and content, superparamagnetic properties, and multicore nanostructures, allowing rapid magnetically induced separations and efficient removal of organic dyes such as methylene blue. These nanocomposites have potential applications in removing organic dyes, heavy metals, and other lignin adsorbates using magnetically induced separations.

Neem oil as natural pesticide: Pseudo ternary diagram and computational study

S. Ghosh et al.

Summary: The bitter principles in neem oil have proven to be effective against agricultural pests and have potential insecticidal and mosquito repellency properties. Formulating microemulsions of neem oil is a promising approach due to their advantages in stability, safety, and cost efficiency. Additionally, molecular docking analysis showed that a compound in neem oil had higher binding affinities towards odorant binding proteins, suggesting potential for developing natural mosquito repellents.
