Inertial self-propelled particles

Lorenzo Caprini et al.

Summary: This study investigates how inertia affects the behavior of self-propelled particles moving through a viscous solvent using the underdamped version of the active Ornstein-Uhlenbeck model. The research reveals marked equal-time correlations between velocity and active force in the non-equilibrium steady state, and shows that inertia also impacts the time-dependent properties of active particles. Additionally, the study examines how the virial pressure of particles changes as one transitions from the overdamped to the underdamped regime, and extends the analysis of correlations in the underdamped regime to a chain of active particles interacting via harmonic springs.

Adsorption and Desorption of Polymers on Bioinspired Chemically Structured Substrates

Tatiana Morozova et al.

Summary: This study investigates the adsorption of hydrophilic flexible homopolymers on a substrate representing the surface of the hair using coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations. The research examines the impact of polymer chain length and concentration on adsorbed structures, as well as the stability of these structures under a linear shear flow. The work aims to develop models of complex macromolecules interacting with realistic biological surfaces for the development of more ecofriendly industrial products.

Effect of surface properties and polymer chain length on polymer adsorption in solution

Emily Y. Lin et al.

Summary: In this study, a theoretical approach was used to investigate the behavior of polymer solutions near solid surfaces in polymer nanoparticle composites. It was found that factors such as solvent quality and surface-fluid interactions significantly affect the adsorption and wetting process of polymers.

Adsorption of semiflexible polymers in crowded environments

Gaurav Chauhan et al.

Summary: Macromolecular crowding in cellular and cell-free systems can affect the interactions of semiflexible biopolymers with surfaces. The adsorption of semiflexible polymers on repulsive surfaces is promoted by stiffer polymers, smaller crowding particles, and larger volume fractions of crowders. Crowding-induced transitions from non-adsorbed to partially and strongly adsorbed states occur at smaller values of bending stiffness as the volume fraction of crowders increases.
