Surface chemistry of reduced graphene oxide: H-atom transfer reactions

Stefan K. Kolev et al.

Summary: The study focused on investigating the surface chemistry of reduced graphene oxide modified with different chemical groups through computational chemistry. Results showed that reactions depend on the proximity of chemical groups and the possibility of H-atom transfer. The presence of sp(2) carbon atoms on the surface plays a crucial role in decreasing the scission energy of C-C bonds during reactions. Additionally, decarboxylation reactions were found to be energetically favorable both at the edge and surface of the carbon material.

Insight into specific surface area, microporosity and N, P co-doping of porous carbon materials in the acetone adsorption

Changqing Su et al.

Summary: Nitrogen and phosphorous-doped porous carbon materials synthesized by chemical activation method exhibited excellent acetone adsorption performance, with the sample activated at 800 degrees Celsius having the highest acetone capacity. The high dispersion of adsorption sites, large specific surface area, and good adsorption affinity with acetone indicated the dominant role of surface physical structure in acetone adsorption.

Synthesis of graphene-like phases by laser ablation of micro-crystalline graphite in water suspension

T. Milenov et al.

Summary: The study aimed to obtain graphene-like phases in fine suspensions using pulsed laser ablation on microcrystalline graphite in water. Various analysis techniques were used to characterize the morphology, composition, and structure of the particles. The results showed that the colloids mainly contained rGO and defected graphene, with some GO, graphite micro-particles, and graphene-like phases.

Molecular Simulations on Tuning the Interlayer Spacing of Graphene Nanoslits for C4H6/C4H10 Separation

Yinxiang Xu et al.

Summary: The study investigates the performance of graphene slits with different interlayer spacings for C4H6/C4H10 separation via molecular simulations. Results show that the size sieving effect leads to preferential penetration of C4H6 in narrower interlayer spacings, while pi-pi adsorption interaction and diffusivity play a role in wider interlayer spacings. Fine-tuning the interlayer spacing switches the dominant separation mechanism, achieving controllable regulation of the preferential permeation from C4H6 to C4H10.
