Application of Deconica castanella ligninolytic enzymatic system in the degradation of hexachlorobenzene in soil

Summary: The study revealed that HCB did not interfere with fungal growth, with laccase being the only detected enzymatic activity. MnP and LiP activities were not detected during the growth of Deconica castanella in soil. Laccase showed peak enzymatic activity in the presence of HCB and exhibited thermostability.

Synthesis and characterization of TiO2 doped cobalt ferrite nanoparticles via microwave method: Investigation of photocatalytic performance of congo red degradation dye

Summary: In this research, microwave improved porous CoFe2O4 and TiO2 doped CoFe2O4 nanostructures were designed using L-threonine as a fuel. The synthesized nanomaterials were characterized and investigated for their photocatalytic degradation abilities under visible light. The doping of titania resulted in smaller crystallite sizes for the nanostructures, and there was an observed association between the photocatalytic properties of CoFe2O4 and TiO2 doped CoFe2O4 in a solitary particle.

Review on nickel-based adsorption materials for Congo red

Summary: The excessive presence of synthetic dyestuffs in aquatic environments can lead to ecological and health issues that are harmful to sustainable development. Adsorption is considered an effective method for removing dye pollutants from water due to its efficiency, cost-effectiveness, ease of operation, and lack of secondary pollution. Among various dyes, Congo red is a commonly used azo dye. Nickel-based materials have been extensively studied for Congo red adsorption due to their diverse morphology, large specific surface area, and strong affinity towards Congo red. However, the challenge remains in creating nickel-based adsorbents with high efficiency, stability, and recyclability for practical applications.

Ligninolytic enzyme treatment, particularly laccase, has been shown to be cost-effective and achieve high decolorization levels. Immobilization of concentrated laccase extract can improve stability but may decrease dye decolorization efficiency.

Bentonite-ionic liquid composites for Congo red removal from aqueous solutions

Summary: The research aims to prepare an environmentally friendly new class of clay sorbents modified with ionic liquids for potential applications in wastewater treatment from the textile industry. Imidazolium-based ionic liquids with different alkyl chain lengths were successfully intercalated in sodium bentonite via an ion exchange reaction, enhancing the clay's sorption capacity for Congo red dye. The modified clays, especially those modified with 1-dodecyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride, showed much higher Congo red sorption capacity compared to unmodified bentonite.
