Childhood School Performance in Adults Diagnosed with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder

Martina Vnukova et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate if adults with higher ADHD symptomatology have different school experiences compared to those with lower and no ADHD symptomatology. The results showed that individuals with more severe ADHD symptoms performed worse in school, were more likely to be expelled, received more reprimands from teachers, and had more negative feedback regarding their attendance and tardiness.

ADHD-inattentive versus ADHD-Combined subtypes: A severity continuum or two distinct entities? A comprehensive analysis of clinical, cognitive and neuroimaging data

Zhao-Min Wu et al.

Summary: The current study explored the multimodal differences between the inattentive ADHD (ADHD-I) subtype and the combined ADHD (ADHD-C) subtype. The results showed that both ADHD groups exhibited elevated levels of behavioral and emotional problems compared to healthy controls. The ADHD-C group had more behavioral problems and emotional liability, while the ADHD-I group had less anxiety. Both ADHD groups showed impairments in most cognitive domains, except for sustained attention. The brain imaging findings revealed distinct structural differences between the two ADHD subtypes.

Abnormal resting-state functional connectivity in patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Jing Liu et al.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review of resting state functional connectivity (rsFC) studies in OCD patients and found widespread disruptions in brain regions, particularly alterations in connectivity between the striatum, thalamus, and anterior cingulate cortex and other cortical networks. These connectivity abnormalities were negatively correlated with symptom severity and age of onset, providing insights into the neural mechanism of OCD.

Functional dysconnectivity of cerebellum and attention networks in emotional dysregulation shared between attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and major depressive disorder: a multimodal imaging study

Shun-Chin J. Wu et al.

Summary: This study examines whether attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and major depressive disorder (MDD) share specific neural networks related to emotional dysregulation (ED). The findings suggest that the cerebellum and attention networks play important roles in the pathophysiology of ED in adolescents with ADHD and MDD. Increased connectivity between the vermis and supramarginal gyrus (SMG) may serve as an underlying neural network. Additionally, lower gray matter volume in the SMG and correlations between RSFC and clinical rating scale scores were observed.

A meta-analysis of tract-based spatial statistics studies examining white matter integrity in cocaine use disorder

Robert Suchting et al.

Summary: This study used seed-based mapping to investigate the differences in white matter integrity between cocaine users and healthy controls, finding lower fractional anisotropy in the genu of the corpus callosum for cocaine users. Sensitivity analyses supported the robustness of the obtained differences, while differences detected at exploratory thresholds for significance suggested compromised white matter integrity extending beyond the corpus callosum.
