Impact of heavy metal oxide on nanosecond nonlinear optical, optical limiting and gamma radiation shielding attributes of borate glasses for laser and nuclear radiation protection applications

Dalal Abdullah Aloraini et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of loading different concentrations of heavy metal oxide Sb2O3 into a transparent glass system on the non-linear optical (NLO) and gamma radiation shielding properties of the glasses. The results showed an increase in two-photon absorption coefficient and changes in optical limiting threshold with increasing Sb2O3 substitution for B2O3. The linear attenuation coefficients also increased at 0.4111 MeV, indicating potential applications in laser and nuclear radiation protection glasses.

Effect of Zinc Fluoride addition on structure of barium Borate glasses for nonlinear optical applications

M. M. Neethish et al.

Summary: A series of Zinc Barium Borate Oxyfluoride glasses were prepared with varying ZnF2 content, leading to a decrease in density and molar volume. The optical band gap ranged from 5.76 to 5.14 eV, indicating the potential of the samples as Supercontinuum sources. Structural changes were observed through FTIR and Raman spectroscopy, revealing nonlinear variations in Boron coordination and Non-bridging Oxygen species. Nonlinear absorption and refraction measurements further supported the suitability of the prepared samples as supercontinuum sources.

Effect of focusing element-induced aberrations on filamentation and supercontinuum emission in ambient air

Samuel Anurag Nalam et al.

Summary: Filamentation of femtosecond laser pulses in atmosphere is influenced by input laser, focusing optics, and medium characteristics. Different optical elements used for focusing the laser pulses can induce aberrations, leading to variations in filament structure and emissions. Systematic study is needed to select suitable optical elements for specific filamentation regimes of femtosecond pulses.
