Twisted Magnon Frequency Comb and Penrose Superradiance

Zhenyu Wang et al.

Summary: The study examines quantization effects of the nonlinear magnon-vortex interaction in ferromagnetic nanodisks, revealing that the circular geometry twists the spin-wave fields with spiral phase dislocations carrying quantized orbital angular momentum. The confluence and splitting scattering of twisted magnons off the gyrating vortex core generates a twisted magnon frequency comb, with mode spacing equal to the gyration frequency of the vortex core and adjacent spectral lines differing by one in OAM quantum numbers. Additionally, applying a magnetic field perpendicular to the plane of a thick nanodisk induces magnonic Penrose superradiance inside the cone vortex state, amplifying higher-order modes of the twisted magnon frequency comb while lower-order ones are trapped within the gyrating orbit of the vortex core, manifesting as the ergoregion.

Ferris wheel patterning of Rydberg atoms using electromagnetically induced transparency with optical vortex fields

Hamid R. Hamedi et al.

Summary: The study investigates the formation of spatially dependent electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) patterns from pairs of Laguerre-Gauss (LG) modes in an ensemble of cold interacting Rydberg atoms. The EIT patterns are generated when two-photon detuning does not compensate for the energy shift induced by van der Waals interaction. Depending on the topological numbers of each LG mode, dark and bright Ferris-wheel-like structures can be patterned in the absorption profile, providing confinement of Rydberg atoms in the transverse direction while remaining transparent to light at specific angular positions. The modulation of the absorption profile by atomic density is also demonstrated.

Exchange of optical vortices in symmetry-broken quantum systems

Seyyed Hossein Asadpour et al.

Summary: This study investigates the interaction of laser pulses carrying orbital angular momentum with a symmetry-broken ladder-type quantum coupling scheme involving three internal states. The results demonstrate efficient transfer of optical vortices to the generated signal beam and the transition between EIT and ATS conversion schemes by tuning the control field. The ATS regime is shown to be considerably more favorable than the EIT for achieving maximum energy conversion efficiency between light beams carrying the OAM.

Engineering helical phase via four-wave mixing in the ultraslow propagation regime

Chao Yu et al.

Summary: By varying the intensities of EIT control fields and the detuning of the probe field, the helical phase of the output FWM field can be controlled. The FWM output fields are very stable under variation of system parameters and the helical phase twist can be manipulated and suppressed by adjusting the probe detuning as desired, offering a compact, efficient, and robust way to control the helical phase.
