Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae Infection Activates the NOD1 Signaling Pathway to Modulate Inflammation

Wei Liu et al.

Summary: This study revealed the activation of the NOD1-RIP2 pathway by Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae and its co-localization with host NOD1 during infection. Overexpression of NOD1 suppressed M. hyopneumoniae proliferation. Additionally, the interaction between M. hyopneumoniae mhp390 and NOD1 receptor was investigated. These findings provide insight into the role of NOD1 in host defense against M. hyopneumoniae infection and the interaction between PRRs and M. hyopneumoniae.

Prevalence of mycoplasma-like lung lesions in pigs from commercial farms from Spain and Portugal

F. J. Pallares et al.

Summary: The study investigated the prevalence and severity of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae lesions at abattoirs in Spain and Portugal. The most common lung lesion found was cranioventral pulmonary consolidation. After microscopic examination, the real prevalence of lesions compatible with M. hyopneumoniae infection was reduced to 24.21%. The study highlights the importance of M. hyopneumoniae as a primary pathogen in cases of PRDC.

Galectin-9 Targets NLRP3 for Autophagic Degradation to Limit Inflammation

Wenwen Wang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that galectin-9 attenuates NLRP3 inflammasome activation by promoting the protein degradation of NLRP3, thus providing a potential therapeutic target for diseases caused by improper NLRP3 inflammasome activation. Galectin-9 interacts with NLRP3, facilitating p62-dependent autophagic degradation of NLRP3 and revealing a new mechanism for controlling host protein degradation.
