Preparation and TEA gas sensing properties of Pt-modified honeycomb-like porous SnO2 nanosheets

Zeyu Sun et al.

Summary: In this study, honeycomb-like porous Pt-modified SnO2 nanocomposites were successfully synthesized and their gas sensing performance was systematically investigated. The results showed that decorating Pt nanoparticles could significantly enhance the sensitivity of SnO2 sensors to TEA, but also decrease the optimal working temperature. Among them, the Pt/SnO2 sensor with a Pt content of 1 at% exhibited the best response value, response time, and stability, indicating its great potential for TEA detection. The significant improvement in TEA sensing performance of Pt-modified SnO2 sensors was attributed to the unique hierarchical porous structure and sensitizing actions of Pt nanoparticles.

SnO2 clusters embedded in TiO2 nanosheets: Heterostructures and gas sensing performance

Peng Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, SnO2 clusters embedded in TiO2 nanosheets were synthesized via a solvothermal method. The gas sensing performance of the resulting heterostructures was significantly enhanced, especially towards acetone, ethanol, and triethylamine, with a response time as short as 10 seconds.

Lattice expansion and oxygen vacancy of α-Fe2O3 during gas sensing

Zhengmao Cao et al.

Summary: In this research, in situ Raman and XRD techniques were used to investigate the gas-sensing nature of alpha-Fe2O3 sensing material, derived from Fe-based metal-organic gel. The surface oxygen vacancy changes of alpha-Fe2O3 were found to play a crucial role during acetone gas sensing. The prepared alpha-Fe2O3 gas sensor exhibited excellent gas-sensing performance at high temperature.

Branching TiO2 nanowire arrays for enhanced ethanol sensing

Qi Jin et al.

Summary: Nanostructure modulation is effective for high performance TiO2-based gas sensors. By using a wet-chemistry route to precipitate directly branched TiO2 nanowire arrays on alumina tubes, the sensors exhibit enhanced response due to the unique porous architecture and quasi-aligned nanostructure. The phase junctions between the backbone and branch of the branched TiO2 nanowire arrays help resistance modulation, leading to excellent sensor properties.

Fabrication of TiO2 nanofibers based sensors for enhanced CH4 performance induced by notable surface area and acid treatment

Z. P. Tshabalala et al.

Summary: The notable surface area and gas sensing properties of TiO2 nanofibers synthesized using a microwave assisted hydrothermal method were reported. Different crystal phases and surface areas were observed after washing with Hydrochloric acid and distilled water, with higher selectivity and sensitivity towards CH4 gas demonstrated by nanofibers washed with 1.0 M HCl.
