Highly selective ppm level LPG sensors based on SnO2-ZnO nanocomposites operable at low temperature

Snehal D. Patil et al.

Summary: The nanoscaled SnO2, ZnO, and SnO2-ZnO nanocomposite powders were prepared using microwave-aided ultra-sonication technique. Thick films of pure ZnO and SnO2-ZnO nanocomposite powders were made by screen printing. The pure ZnO and SnO2 doped ZnO films showed hexagonal crystallographic phases and porous nature according to SEM and EDS analysis. The SnO2 doped ZnO film with 1% doping concentration exhibited crucial response to 100 ppm LPG at 50°C and 100°C, making it suitable for LPG sensing.

Enhanced acetic acid detection for Tb2O3 @MOF-derived ZnO at room temperature

Wanyi Ling et al.

Summary: ZnO, a wide bandgap n-type metallic oxide semiconductor, has low sensitivity for gas sensor application. In this study, Zn-metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) were synthesized by introducing organic ligands and integrated with Tb3+. The resulting Tb2O3@ZnO-1/Tb2O3@ZnO-2 derivatives exhibited enhanced sensitivity to acetic acid, especially under UV light excitation, with a detection limit of 500 ppb.

Chemiresistive gas sensor based on electrospun hollow SnO2 nanotubes for detecting NO at the ppb level

Peng Su et al.

Summary: Optimization of material structure can lead to the detection of target gases even in old sensing materials. In this study, hollow tin oxide nanotubes (NTs) demonstrated exceptional sensing performance for nitric oxide (NO) at 160 degrees C. The hollow NTs, obtained through direct annealing of electrospun precursor nanofibers, outperformed solid NTs due to their larger surface area. With a response of approximately 33.3 to 500 ppb of NO at 160 degrees C, the hollow NTs also exhibited good repeatability, long-term stability, and excellent selectivity.

Chemiresistive gas sensors based on electrospun semiconductor metal oxides: A review

Long Chen et al.

Summary: Semiconductor metal oxide (SMO) gas sensors have gained significant attention due to their high sensitivity, fast response time, and excellent selectivity. Nanomaterials (NMs) synthesized by electrospinning offer unique advantages for designing highly sensitive and selective gas sensors. Studies have shown that NMs with different shapes and compositions exhibit high response values, long-term stability, low humidity dependence, fast response/recovery times, and low detection limits for gases.

Facile synthesis of metal-organic framework-derived ZnO/CuO nanocomposites for highly sensitive and selective H2S gas sensing

Tan Le Hoang Doan et al.

Summary: ZnO/CuO nanocomposites derived from a metal-organic framework showed excellent gas sensing performance on low concentrations of H2S gas, with high response, selectivity, and repeatability. This was attributed to the texture coefficients of the ZnO and CuO phase compositions, leading to the formation of a high number of p-n junctions and quantum confinement effects, as well as the lower binding energy of H2S.
