A General Self-Assembly Induced Strategy for Synthesizing 2D Ultrathin Cobalt-Based Compounds Toward Optimizing Hydrogen Evolution Catalysis

Xingmei Guo et al.

Summary: This study develops a self-assembly induced reverse micelle templating method for synthesizing 2D compounds with high accessible surface area and nano-thickness as advanced electrocatalysts. The experimental results demonstrate that ultrathin 2D compounds exhibit enhanced performances for the hydrogen evolution reaction, with 2D CoP being particularly prominent. This is attributed to its favorable electronic structure, moderate hydrogen adsorbability, good conductivity, and homogeneous ultrathin 2D configuration.

Scalable Synthesis and Electrochemical Properties of Porous Si-CoSi2-C Composites as an Anode for Li-ion Batteries

Hyungeun Seo et al.

Summary: In this study, a mass-producible porous Si-CoSi2-C composite was reported as a high-capacity anode material for Li-ion batteries. The composite exhibited greatly improved cycle and rate performance compared to conventional Si-C composites, attributed to the presence of CoSi2 and internal pores in the material. The proposed synthesis strategy provides a convenient and cost-effective method for producing Si-based materials for commercial LIB anodes.

A flexible and conductive connection introduced by cross-linked CNTs between submicron Si@C particles for better performance LIB anode

Qiqi Zhou et al.

Summary: A flexible and conductive connection design is proposed and realized by a solid-state growth approach to improve the inevitable capacity fading issues of traditional submicron Si@C electrodes used as anode materials in LIBs. The Si@C is entangled into a highly connective Si@C/CNTs composite through the in situ synthesis of carbon nanotube-based network. The electrode shows improved conductivity and long-term cyclic stability, with a high-capacity retention ratio of 80.7% after 500 cycles, providing reference for the improvement of alloy-type anode materials.
