The developing airway and gut microbiota in early life is influenced by age of older siblings

Emil Dalgaard Christensen et al.

Summary: Research has found that growing up with siblings has a significant impact on the developing microbiota in children, particularly during the first year of life. The age gap to the closest older sibling is more important than the number of siblings. The gut microbiota signature of having siblings at 1 year is associated with protection against asthma at 6 years of age.

Probiotics in food allergy

Maurizio Mennini et al.

Summary: Current research on the role of probiotics in food allergy is still exploratory, with no clear usage recommendations and further studies needed. Early life supplementation with specific immunomodulatory microbes derived from machine learning approaches may represent a novel approach to preventing multiple atopic diseases.
