Probiotic-fermented rice buckwheat alleviates high-fat diet-induced hyperlipidemia in mice by suppressing lipid accumulation and modulating gut microbiota

Jing Yan et al.

Summary: The probiotics-fermented rice buckwheat (FRB) significantly reduced weight gain and visceral obesity, improved dyslipidemia, alleviated oxidative stress and chronic inflammation in high-fat diet-induced mice. Furthermore, FRB intervention inhibited hepatic cholesterol synthesis, promoted lipolysis, and reversed gut dysbiosis induced by high-fat diet, demonstrating its beneficial effects on hyperlipidemia.

Effect of Lactobacillus plantarum LP104 on hyperlipidemia in high-fat diet induced C57BL/6N mice via alteration of intestinal microbiota

Yue Teng et al.

Summary: The beneficial effects of Lactobacillus plantarum LP104 on lipid level and disordered gut microbiota in mice fed a high-fat diet were investigated in this study. The results showed that LP104 supplementation could alleviate body weight gain, liver index increase, colon length reduction, as well as improve TC, TG, LDL, TNF alpha, and LPS levels. High-throughput sequencing analysis revealed that long-term high-fat diet negatively affected microbial abundance and composition in the gut, but LP104 supplementation reduced the ratio of Firmicutes to Bacteroides and positively regulated the gut microbiota community structure. Additionally, the intake of LP104 also increased the abundance of beneficial bacteria Bifidobacterium in the cecum, which improved the intestinal flora disorder induced by a high-fat diet. These findings suggest that LP104 supplementation can improve high-fat diet-induced hyperlipidemia by positively regulating intestinal microorganisms.

Targeting gut microbial bile salt hydrolase (BSH) by diet supplements: new insights into dietary modulation of human health

Yanan Yang et al.

Summary: The gut microbiome plays a crucial role in human health by participating in nutrient acquisition, energy regulation, and maintenance of overall health. Manipulating the gut microbiota through dietary supplements has proven to be effective in improving human health. Bile acids are extensively metabolized by the gut microbes and control various metabolic processes, such as energy homeostasis and glucose and lipid metabolism, through activation of the farnesoid X receptor (FXR). This review focuses on the effects of dietary supplements on FXR signaling and how they promote human health by affecting the gut microbiota and bile acids-FXR signaling axis.

Lactobacillus reuteri J1 prevents obesity by altering the gut microbiota and regulating bile acid metabolism in obese mice

Chenxi Zhang et al.

Summary: This study found that L. reuteri J1 can improve obesity symptoms by regulating gut microbiota and bile acid composition. L. reuteri J1 can reduce weight, fat accumulation, dyslipidemia, while improving glucose homeostasis and insulin sensitivity. The mechanism involves inhibiting the FXR signaling pathway, activating the TGR5 signaling pathway, and remodeling white adipose tissue.
