Brassinosteroids (BRs) are plant-specific steroidal phytohormones that play fundamental roles in regulating plant growth, development, stress response, and interactions with microbes and adverse environments. Understanding the functions of BRs and their regulation network is of great significance for improving crop resistance to diseases and abiotic stresses.
Brassinosteroids (BRs) are a group of plant-specificsteroidalphytohormones, which play fundamental roles in regulating diverseaspects of the plant life cycle including plant growth, development, and stress response. Extensive studies have demonstrated that BRssignaling is involved in plant innate immunity as well as the responseto environmental stimuli including extreme temperatures, saline-alkali,and drought. In addition, that the BRs signal interacts with otherimmune-related signals, constructing a complex signal network to regulateplant-microbe interactions and adaptation to adverse environments, has also been preliminarily explored. A timely and updated reviewon these progresses is of great significance for understanding BRsfunctions, improving the BRs regulation network and breeding disease-resistantcrops, meantime with higher tolerance to abiotic stresses. Here, wemainly focus on the latest advances in the BRs signal which regulateplant defense and tolerance to abiotic and biotic stresses and thenfurther highlight the crosstalk between the BRs signal and other immune-relatedor stress response pathways, with an aim to use them to improve cropsby transgenic technologies.
