Enhancing tryptophan production by balancing precursors in Escherichia coli

Liang Guo et al.

Summary: This study successfully generated an Escherichia coli strain capable of efficient tryptophan production through improving precursor supply, engineering membrane transporters, and other methods. The engineered strain produced high concentrations of tryptophan in fed-batch fermentation in a 5 L bioreactor. This research provides new insights for the development of high-performance microbial cell factories for the production of valuable chemicals.

4-Methoxybenzylalcohol protects brain microvascular endothelial cells against oxygen-glucose deprivation/reperfusion-induced injury via activation of the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway

Qing Lin et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that 4-MA could effectively alleviate OGD/Rep-induced injury in bEnd.3 cells by inhibiting inflammation and activating the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, suggesting its potential as a candidate for treating OGD/Rep-induced injury.

Angiogenesis effects of 4-methoxy benzyl alcohol on cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury via regulation of VEGF-Ang/Tie2 balance

Fangyan He et al.

Summary: 4-MA exhibits angiogenesis effects on CIRI, contributing to neurological deficit recovery. By increasing microvessel density and regulating the expression of angiogenesis factors, particularly VEGF and VEGFR-2, without exacerbating BBB damage, it enhances angiogenesis for potential mechanisms underlying neurological recovery after CIRI.
