'Paper care not patient care': Nurse and patient experiences of comprehensive risk assessment and care plan documentation in hospital

Catherine Paterson et al.

Summary: This study aims to explore organization-wide experiences of person-centred care and risk assessment practices. The findings suggest that the structure of the documentation is efficient and valued by nurses, and the ISBAR framework and clinical decision-making prompts are important. However, there are challenges in obtaining patient signatures, multidisciplinary involvement, duplication of paperwork, and capturing person-centred goals in care plan documentation. Patient satisfaction with person-centred care is high, but there are issues with communication and integration of care within the multidisciplinary team.

Audit and Feedback: An Evidence-Based Practice Literature Review of Nursing Report Cards

Sharon Smyth et al.

Summary: The evidence on implementing individualized audit and feedback report tools for nurses is not consistent and compelling, highlighting a lack of clear positive results. Themes related to sustainability, timing of feedback, and methods of acquiring and distributing data emerged from the review. Further implementation science research is needed to explore the effectiveness of audit and feedback reports in nursing.

Towards a better understanding of the relationship between feedback and nurses' work engagement and burnout: A convergent mixed-methods study on nurses' attributions about the 'why' of feedback

A. P. M. (Suzanne) Giesbers et al.

Summary: This study investigated nurses' perceptions of feedback on quality measurements, attributions of managers' purposes, and the impact of the feedback environment on nurses' burnout. The results demonstrate that nurses make varying attributions about the purpose of feedback, and the feedback environment is associated with nurses' attributions and burnout.
