Tribological performance and phase transition of MAX-phase/YSZ abradable seal coating produced by air plasma spraying

Rawaid Ali et al.

Summary: The addition of MAX-phase Ti3AlC2 can enhance the hardness and reduce the wear rate of the coating. The formation of tiny TiC and Al2O3 phases during plasma spraying contributes to the reduction of wear rate.

Achieving high temperature broadband electromagnetic reflection reduction via Al2O3/FeCrAl refractory composite coating

Shixin Zhao et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a composite coating consisting of a refractory coating and a high-temperature conductive material for stable electromagnetic (EM) reflection reduction at high temperatures. The composite coating shows stable wideband EM reflection reduction and excellent stability at high temperatures, with the potential for temperature insensitive EM reflection reduction over a wide frequency range.

Physiochemical evaluations, mechanical attenuations and thermal stability of graphene nanosheets and functionalized nanodiamonds loaded pitch derived carbon foam composites

Muhammad Khan et al.

Summary: This work investigates the synergistic effects of graphene nanosheets and functionalized nanodiamonds on the properties of carbon foam composites. The addition of these additives significantly improves the structure and morphology of the composites, as well as their electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties. Among the composite samples studied, the CF/GNS-FND hybrid composites exhibit the highest in-plane electrical and thermal conductivities, as well as compressive strength and Young's modulus.

Preparation and structural investigations of the graphite and nanodiamonds dispersed epoxy hybrid composites for enhanced mechanical and thermal properties

Jianfeng Wang et al.

Summary: Nanodiamonds and graphite nanoparticles have unique features but tend to cluster in solution due to their high surface energy. This research focuses on surface treatments to improve their dispersion in epoxy matrix. Results show that 0.3 wt% of nanofillers (GNPs-NDs) achieve outstanding mechanical and thermal properties.
