Buprenorphine Treatment Episodes During the First Year of COVID: a Retrospective Examination of Treatment Initiation and Retention

Summary: This study aims to understand the patterns of buprenorphine treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic and compare them to pre-pandemic patterns. The study found that although the total number of buprenorphine patients remained relatively stable, there was a decrease in new treatment episodes and episodes that ended compared to expected numbers. These decreases were most pronounced in the two months after the declaration of the public health emergency.
