Nanoengineering of ZnCo2O4@CoMoO4 heterogeneous structures for supercapacitor and water splitting applications

Summary: A hybrid ZnCo2O4@CoMoO4 heterogeneous structure was synthesized by a two-step hydrothermal process deposited onto nickel foam. The hybrid architecture showed excellent electrochemical performance, including a specific capacitance of 1040C g-1 at 1 A g-1, a high energy density of 87.3 Wh kg-1 at a power density of 2700 W kg-1 for an as-assembled supercapacitor, and excellent cycle stability with a capacity retention of 99% after 8000 charge-discharge cycles. It also exhibited favorable electrocatalytic activity with low overpotentials for oxygen and hydrogen evolution reactions, as well as low cell voltage for overall water splitting. The stability of the structure was maintained for 13 hours of long-term use. This hybrid structure holds great promise for future energy storage and conversion.

Interface engineering of hybrid ZnCo2O4@Ni2.5Mo6S6.7 structures for flexible energy storage and alkaline water splitting

Summary: Designing electrodes with hybrid structures is significant for improving energy storage and conversion efficiency. In this study, a hybrid-structured ZnCo2O4@Ni2.5Mo6S6.7 material was successfully synthesized on a nickel foam substrate. This hybrid structure exhibits high specific capacitance, excellent stability, high energy density, and mechanical flexibility in supercapacitor applications, as well as low overpotentials, low water splitting cell voltage, and excellent stability in alkaline water splitting.

Highly stable electrodeposited 2D Mn0.2Co0.8 LDH nanoplatelets based symmetric supercapacitor electrode

Summary: A high performing Mn0.2Co0.8 layered double hydroxide (LDH)-based binder-free supercapacitor symmetric electrode was fabricated using a single-step electrochemical deposition. The synthesized electrode showed specific capacitance of 370.58-141.17 F/g (315-120 C/g) and retained 172.72% capacitance after 9000 GCD cycles. A symmetric supercapacitor was also prepared using the Mn0.2Co0.8 LDH as both cathode and anode, exhibiting specific capacitance of 106.91-34.57 F/g and excellent cyclic stability over 5000 GCD cycles.

Simple fabrication of (CoFe)Se2 @NC electrode materials derived from MOF materials and the electrochemical properties for supercapacitor

Summary: CoFe Prussian blue-like (CoFePBA) nanocubes were prepared by a simple co-deposition method, coated with polypyrrole (PPy) to obtain CoFe-PBA@PPy, and then (CoFe)Se2 @NC nanocomposites were successfully prepared by selenization and nitrogen-doping. The constructed nanocomposite exhibited an open skeleton structure, porous conduction networks, and a large number of redox-active sites, leading to enhanced kinetic performance and cycling stability of energy storage devices.

Honeycomb-like biomass carbon with planted CoNi3 alloys to form hierarchical composites for high-performance supercapacitors

Summary: Hierarchical composite materials made from biomass carbon, ZIF-67, and a mild pore former are able to generate alloy-type CoNi3 nanoparticles planted into conductive honeycomb-like carbon frameworks, leading to a remarkable specific capacitance and ultra-long cycling stability. Besides, the asymmetrical supercapacitor also exhibits a high specific capacitance, long-term stable lifespan, and maximum energy density, making it a promising energy storage application.

Nanosheet-assembled NiCo-LDH hollow spheres as high-performance electrodes for supercapacitors

3D hierarchical ZnCo2S4@Ni(OH)2 nanowire arrays with excellent flexible energy storage and electrocatalytic performance

Summary: In this work, ZnCo2S4@Ni(OH)(2) nanowire arrays were successfully synthesized on nickel foam by hydrothermal methods.
