Achieving superior lithium storage performances of CoMoO4 anode for lithium-ion batteries by Si-doping dual vacancies engineering

Xuejia Wang et al.

Summary: This study successfully synthesized a series of CoMo1-xSix/2O4-2x (x = 0, 0.1, 0.15, 0.2, and 0.25) anode materials through a solid-state method, which showed better electrochemical performance than pure CoMoO4. The dual vacancies generated by Si doping can reduce the optical band gap, enhance conductivity, and accelerate the transport of lithium ions and electrons.

MIL-96-Al for Li-S Batteries: Shape or Size?

Pengbiao Geng et al.

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks with controllable shapes and sizes, specifically MIL-96-Al crystals in hexagonal platelet, hexagonal bipyramidal, and hexagonal prismatic bipyramidal shapes, were prepared successfully using cosolvent methods. The shape and particle size of the MOF crystals were found to influence the adsorption of lithium polysulfides, impacting the initial capacity in Li-S batteries. These findings suggest a new strategy for designing sulfur hosts in Li-S batteries.

Construction of porous CoTiO3 microrods with enhanced performance as lithium-ion battery anode

Meng Sun et al.

Summary: CoTiO3 microrods and nanoparticles were prepared by a solvothermal method followed by thermal annealing. The microrods exhibited higher discharge capacity and better rate capability compared with nanoparticles, attributed to their good ion diffusion ability, large specific surface area, and porous rod-like structure. This work provides a feasible strategy for developing improved anode materials for lithium-ion batteries.

A Direct Z-Scheme for the Photocatalytic Hydrogen Production from a Water Ethanol Mixture on CoTiO3/TiO2 Heterostructures

Congcong Xing et al.

Summary: The synthesis of CoTiO3/TiO2 composite catalysts with controlled amounts of highly distributed CoTiO3 nanodomains has been reported, showing outstanding hydrogen evolution rates under UV and visible illumination. The type II band alignment of CoTiO3/TiO2 heterostructures is found to be the origin of this enhanced activity, leading to enlarged lifetimes of photogenerated charge carriers. These experimental results suggest a direct Z-scheme mechanism enabling high photocatalytic activity of CoTiO3/TiO2 composites towards ethanol dehydrogenation.

Lattice dynamics and spontaneous magnetodielectric effect in ilmenite CoTiO3

R. M. Dubrovin et al.

Summary: The lattice dynamics studies of the honeycomb antiferromagnetic ilmenite CoTiO3 single crystal were conducted using polarized infrared, Raman, and dielectric spectroscopic techniques, supplemented by DFT calculations. Unique identification of infrared- and Raman-active phonons was achieved, and the dielectric permittivity showed distinct changes due to the spontaneous magnetodielectric effect. These results establish a solid basis for further investigations into the coupling of phonons with spins and magnetic excitations in this promising material.

Rational Design and General Synthesis of Multimetallic Metal-Organic Framework Nano-Octahedra for Enhanced Li-S Battery

Wenting Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of Mn-based multimetallic MOF nano-octahedra were successfully prepared by a facile one-pot synthetic strategy. These nano-octahedra were used as sulfur hosts to prepare cathodes for Li-S batteries, with MnNi-MIL-100@S cathode exhibiting the best performance. The strategy described here allows for the incorporation of metal ions into MOF architecture, leading to the rational generation of novel multimetallic MOFs, and enables the general synthesis and study of various micro-/nanoscale MOFs in the field of energy storage.
