Effects of annealing temperature of PtCu/MWCNT catalysts on their electrocatalytic performance of electrooxidation of methanol

Bohua Wu et al.

Summary: PtCu alloy supported on acid-treated multi-walled carbon nanotube (PtCu/MWCNT) catalysts were prepared through polyol reduction method. The effects of annealing temperatures on the structure and performance of the catalyst were studied. Results showed that annealing at 400 degrees Celsius improved the activity and durability of the PtCu/MWCNT catalyst for methanol oxidation reaction.

Nanosized Rh grown on single-walled carbon nanohorns for efficient methanol oxidation reaction

Xiang-Jie Guo et al.

Summary: Reasonable design and controllable synthesis of non-Pt catalysts with high methanol oxidation activity are important for large-scale commercial applications of direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs). In this study, nanosized Rh grown on single-walled carbon nanohorns (Rh/SWCNH) have been successfully fabricated as anode catalysts for DMFCs. The resulting Rh/SWCNH catalysts exhibit exceptional electrocatalytic properties and hold great potential as alternatives for commercial Pt/carbon black and Pd/carbon black catalysts.

Direct methanol fuel cells system-A review of dual-role electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction and methanol oxidation

Yuanhui Zuo et al.

Summary: One fundamental challenge in exploiting DMFCs is the preparation of inexpensive, high active electrocatalysts. There are mainly two types of dual-role electrocatalysts for MOR & ORR: Pt-support/co-catalyst (P-S/C) and catalyst/co-catalyst (C/C).

1D-2D hybridization: Nanoarchitectonics for grain boundary-rich platinum nanowires coupled with MXene nanosheets as efficient methanol oxidation electrocatalysts

Wei Meng et al.

Summary: Researchers have successfully synthesized a heterojunction catalyst of Pt nanowires and MXene nanosheets with high methanol oxidation performance and long-term durability. The catalyst possesses structural advantages such as large accessible surface area, stable interconnected Pt networks, and numerous grain boundary sites. It exhibits higher activity and competitiveness compared to traditional Pt nanoparticle/carbon catalysts.
