An experimental study for thermal management using hybrid heat sinks based on organic phase change material, copper foam and heat pipe

Hafiz Muhammad Ali

Summary: Phase change materials have low thermal conductivity, which limits their heat transfer rates. This study integrated copper foam and heat pipe with phase change material to improve its thermal conductivity and analyzed the cooling performance of the heat sink. The results showed that hybrid cooling with PCM-Cu Foam-HP configuration performed the best.

Summary: In this study, water-based nanofluids were synthesized using covalently functionalized carbon nanoplatelets and non-covalently functionalized metal oxides nanoparticles. The stability and improved thermal properties of these nanofluids were experimentally verified and matched with theoretical models. The addition of nanomaterials significantly enhanced thermal conductivity, density, and specific heat capacity of the nanofluids, demonstrating their potential for improving the thermal performance of flat-plate solar collectors.
