Development and Evaluation of In Situ Gel of Silver Sulfadiazine for Improved Therapeutic Efficacy Against Infectious Burn Wound

Navin Joshi et al.

Summary: The development of beta-cyclodextrin inclusion complex-based in situ pluronic gel of silver sulfadiazine has shown promising results in terms of improved solubility, slow drug release, and high efficacy against infectious wounds. This gel formulation ensures increased local availability and high SSD availability at the desired site. The inclusion complex-formed gel also demonstrated slow drug permeation through the skin, resulting in broader zone of Staphylococcus aureus growth inhibition and higher wound contraction compared to the marketed formulation.

Preparation, characterization and stability of silver sulfadiazine nanoliposomes

Delia Alkhatib et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated the stability and release properties of silver sulfadiazine nanoliposomes under different pH, UV exposure, and heat conditions, with the nanoliposomes not altering the drug's release characteristics. Research focusing on enhancing the lipophilicity of silver sulfadiazine may find these results beneficial.

Multifunctional ultrasmall AgNP hydrogel accelerates healing of S. aureus infected wounds

Hanif Haidari et al.

Summary: This study presents the development of a multifunctional thermo-responsive hydrogel utilizing ultra-small silver nanoparticles for controlled and optimized delivery of silver to infected wounds. The developed hydrogel showed significant elimination of S. aureus from mouse wounds, promoting cell proliferation and wound re-epithelization. The multifunctional properties of the AgNP thermoresponsive hydrogel offer great clinical potential in controlling bacterial infections and promoting wound healing.

Accelerated burn wound healing with photobiomodulation therapy involves activation of endogenous latent TGF-β1

Imran Khan et al.

Summary: This study investigated the efficacy of Photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy in full-thickness burn wound healing, demonstrating that PBM treatments improve tissue healing and reduce inflammation in mice. The activation of latent TGF-beta 1 following PBM treatments plays a key role in burn wound healing, mediated through both TGF-beta dependent and independent signaling pathways. These mechanistic insights can enhance the clinical translation of PBM treatments for tissue healing and regeneration.
