Statins in Children, an Update

Riccardo Fiorentino et al.

Summary: Due to the progression of lipid abnormalities from childhood to adulthood, it is crucial to identify and treat children and adolescents with dyslipidemia early on. This is important in order to reduce cardiovascular risk, delay the development of fatty streaks, slow down the progression of atherosclerosis, and reverse atherosclerotic plaques.

New Molecules of Diterpene Origin with Inhibitory Properties toward α-Glucosidase

Elena Tretyakova et al.

Summary: The incidence of diabetes has increased significantly in the past decade, resulting in higher rates of morbidity and mortality globally. In this study, a series of quinopimaric acid derivatives were synthesized and evaluated for their inhibitory effects on alpha-Glucosidase (alpha-GLy), a therapeutic target for type 2 diabetes. The results showed that some of the synthesized compounds exhibited good inhibitory activities against alpha-GLy, suggesting their potential as alternative therapies for type 2 diabetes.

Tirzepatide: A Systematic Update

Imma Forzano et al.

Summary: Tirzepatide is a new molecule that combines the dual agonism of GIP and GLP-1 receptors to control blood glucose levels. It has been shown to improve glycemic control in patients with diabetes and also has beneficial effects on blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

Reviewing the Modern Therapeutical Options and the Outcomes of Sacubitril/Valsartan in Heart Failure

Diana-Carina Iovanovici et al.

Summary: Sacubitril/valsartan is a pharmaceutical strategy that increases natriuretic peptide levels and shows significant improvement in heart failure patients. It reduces morbidity and mortality through mechanisms like reverse cardiac remodeling and has benefits even for patients with preserved ejection fraction.

Nicotinamide Mononucleotide Prevents Retinal Dysfunction in a Mouse Model of Retinal Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury

Deokho Lee et al.

Summary: The study suggests that NMN administration offers protection against retinal ischemia/reperfusion injury by suppressing inflammation, protecting retinal neuronal cells, and activating the antioxidant pathway.
