Advances of Sulfenate Anions in Catalytic Asymmetric Synthesis of Sulfoxides

Lu Yang et al.

Summary: Sulfenate anions as key intermediates in enantioselective synthesis have attracted attention in recent years. Developing new synthetic methods to generate sulfenate anions allows for the preparation of various enantiopure sulfoxides, which are widely used as auxiliaries, ligands, organocatalysts, and biologically active compounds. This review covers the in situ preparation methods and recent applications of sulfenate anions in catalytic asymmetric synthesis of chiral sulfoxides.

Multienzyme Redox System with Cofactor Regeneration for Cyclic Deracemization of Sulfoxides

Tao Peng et al.

Summary: This study achieved the cyclic deracemization of sulfoxides by combining the high-enantioselective enzyme MsrA with the low-enantioselective enzyme SMO, resulting in enantiopure sulfoxides. The cofactors of the enzymes were regenerated by the cascade catalysis of auxiliary enzymes, enabling high yield and enantioselectivity.

Recent developments in the use of peroxygenases - Exploring their high potential in selective oxyfunctionalisations

Markus Hobisch et al.

Summary: Peroxygenases are a new class of enzymes that allow selective oxyfunctionalisation reactions without the need for a cofactor, different from well-known P450 monooxygenases. Recent developments in organic synthesis, molecular biotechnology, and reaction engineering have focused on utilizing these enzymes in industrial applications. There is great potential for peroxygenases in selective oxyfunctionalisations and further studies are required to explore their full capabilities in organic synthesis.

Biocatalytic regio- and stereoselective access to ω-3 endocannabinoid epoxides with peroxygenase from oat flour

Claudia Sanfilippo et al.

Summary: The biocatalytic epoxidation of ethanolamides of omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA was investigated in the presence of a peroxygenase-containing preparation from oat flour. Good regio- and steroselectivity were observed, and acetone as cosolvent improved the concentration of starting substrates and selectivity in the epoxidation of DHA-EA. This method offers a valuable strategy for obtaining oxyfunctionalized derivatives of fatty acids due to the easy availability of the enzymatic preparation.
