Biocompatibility and antibiofilm activity of graphene-oxide functionalized titanium discs and collagen membranes

Milena Radunovic et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of barrier membranes and graphene-oxide (GO) coated titanium surfaces on biofilm formation, analyzed the relationship between material topography and bacterial accumulation, and examined the biocompatibility of GO functionalized discs using the zebrafish model. The results showed that GO-coated materials exhibited lower bacterial accumulation and were biocompatible. Further in vivo investigation is encouraged to explore the potential applications of these materials in infection prevention.

Different expression patterns of inflammatory cytokines induced by lipopolysaccharides from Escherichia coli or Porphyromonas gingivalis in human dental pulp stem cells

Chunhua Lan et al.

Summary: This study found that in human dental pulp stem cells, Escherichia coli lipopolysaccharide (LPS) significantly enhances the expression of inflammatory cytokines, while Porphyromonas gingivalis LPS has no effect on this. Escherichia coli LPS increases the expression of TLR4 in dental pulp stem cells, while Porphyromonas gingivalis LPS has no effect on the expression of TLR2 or TLR4.
