Systemic Immune Inflammation Index (SII), System Inflammation Response Index (SIRI) and Risk of All-Cause Mortality and Cardiovascular Mortality: A 20-Year Follow-Up Cohort Study of 42,875 US Adults

Yiyuan Xia et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the association of systemic immune inflammation index (SII) and system inflammation response index (SIRI) with all-cause mortality and cardiovascular mortality. The analysis of 42,875 adults participating in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) shows that SII and SIRI are closely associated with all-cause mortality and cardiovascular mortality, highlighting the importance of systemic inflammation in providing better preventive strategies.

Systemic immune-inflammation index as a potential biomarker of cardiovascular diseases: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Zhen Ye et al.

Summary: The study suggests that the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) may be a potential biomarker for the development of cardiovascular disease (CVD), as elevated SII is associated with an increased risk of CVD. However, the quality of evidence from current studies is generally low, and further well-designed research is needed to determine the optimal cutoff value and identify the population that would benefit from SII assessment.

Carotid Plaque Features and Inflammatory Biomarkers as Predictors of Restenosis and Mortality Following Carotid Endarterectomy

Raluca Niculescu et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the predictive role of inflammatory biomarkers and plaque features in restenosis and mortality risk following carotid endarterectomy (CEA). The results showed that higher preoperative levels of inflammatory biomarkers were associated with an increased risk of restenosis and mortality at 12 months after CEA. Unstable plaques and myocardial infarction were independent predictors of all outcomes.

Monocyte-to-high-density lipoprotein ratio and systemic inflammation response index are associated with the risk of metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases in general rural population

Pengbo Wang et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association between inflammatory indicators and the risk of metabolic diseases and cardiovascular disease (CVD). The results showed that MHR and SIRI were significantly associated with metabolic diseases and their components, with higher levels of these indicators indicating a higher risk. Furthermore, MHR and SIRI were also correlated with CVD, and an increase in these indicators led to an elevated 10-year CVD risk.

Summary: This study aimed to identify predictive factors for arteriovenous fistula (AVF) maturation failure. By analyzing multiple indicators and vessel diameters, it was found that the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio, platelet to lymphocyte ratio, systemic inflammatory index, C-reactive protein, Ca-P product, and prognostic nutritional index played important roles in predicting AVF maturation failure, early thrombosis, and short-term mortality.

Inflammatory Biomarkers as Prognostic Factors of Acute Deep Vein Thrombosis Following the Total Knee Arthroplasty

Razvan Marian Melinte et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the predictive role of inflammatory biomarkers in acute deep vein thrombosis (DVT) following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The results showed that higher pre-operative hematological ratios, including monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, platelets-to-lymphocyte ratio, systemic inflammatory index, systemic inflammation response index, and aggregate index of systemic inflammation, strongly predicted the risk of DVT after TKA. Additionally, age over 70, malignancy, cardiovascular disease, and risk factors such as obesity and tobacco were also predictive risk factors for acute DVT.

Systemic Immune Inflammation Index as a Reliable Disease Activity Marker in Psoriatic Arthritis

Ayse Bahar Kelesoglu Dincer et al.

Summary: The utility of systemic immune inflammation index (SII) in predicting disease activity in psoriatic arthritis (PsA) patients was assessed in this study. The NLR, PLR, MLR, and SII were significantly higher in PsA patients compared to healthy controls. There were significant positive correlations between disease activity scores and SII values. SII may be an easy, practical, economical, and readily accessible tool for monitoring disease activity and the efficacy of treatment in PsA patients.

Results showed significantly higher levels of white blood cells, platelets, neutrophils, and SII in patients with active BD upon admission. SII may be used as an additional indicator for assessing BD status and physicians should be cautious in patients with SII levels of > 552 x 10(3)/mm(3) at the initial evaluation.
