A Role of Complement in the Pathogenic Sequelae of Mouse Neonatal Germinal Matrix Hemorrhage

Mohammed Alshareef et al.

Summary: This study developed a mouse model of GMH and investigated the role of complement in PHH development. The results showed that CR2Crry treatment could slow down the progression of PHH, reduce lesion size, and improve central neuronal density and behavioral outcomes.

Mechanisms of neuroinflammation in hydrocephalus after intraventricular hemorrhage: a review

Katherine G. Holste et al.

Summary: Intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in both neonatal and adult populations. The subsequent inflammation caused by IVH not only leads to additional brain injury and edema, but also places individuals at risk for white matter injury, seizures, and death. Understanding the mechanisms of neuroinflammation after IVH may highlight potential novel therapeutic targets for post-hemorrhagic hydrocephalus (PHH).

Complement mediates neuroinflammation and cognitive decline at extended chronic time points after traumatic brain injury

Khalil Mallah et al.

Summary: Traumatic brain injury can lead to long-term cognitive decline, for which there is currently no pharmacological treatment. The study investigated the role of complement in neuroinflammation and cognitive decline after TBI, and found that continuous treatment with CR2Crry improved spatial learning and memory in mice.
