Safety and survival of docetaxel and cabazitaxel in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer

Kristine Kreis et al.

Summary: This study examined real-world haematological toxicity, overall survival, and treatment characteristics of docetaxel and cabazitaxel chemotherapy in mCRPC patients. The findings suggest that cabazitaxel treatment poses higher risk of haematological toxicities and shorter survival time, emphasizing the importance of strict indications when using cabazitaxel in mCRPC patients.

Molecular landscape of c-Myc signaling in prostate cancer: A roadmap to clinical translation

Mojdeh Amini Faskhoudi et al.

Summary: The c-Myc signaling pathway is a promising target for cancer therapy, playing important roles in cancer growth, invasion, and drug resistance. In prostate cancer, overexpression of c-Myc promotes cell growth and migration, while its inhibition induces apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. c-Myc also enhances glycolysis to support prostate cancer growth, and its stability and overexpression mediate resistance to chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Regulatory Roles of Six-Transmembrane Epithelial Antigen of the Prostate Family Members in the Occurrence and Development of Malignant Tumors

Wen-Jia Chen et al.

Summary: The STEAP proteins, including STEAP1-4 and atypical STEAP1B, have six transmembrane domains and are located in the cell membrane. They play a crucial role in cell metal metabolism, participate in various biological processes, and are closely linked to the occurrence and development of multiple diseases, especially malignant tumors.

Molecular Profiling of Docetaxel-Resistant Prostate Cancer Cells Identifies Multiple Mechanisms of Therapeutic Resistance

Thiago S. Lima et al.

Summary: The study identifies potential mechanisms associated with the development of taxane drug resistance in prostate cancer. Targeting these mechanisms could potentially re-sensitize drug-resistant cancer cells to docetaxel treatment and extend the life-prolonging effects of the drug in men with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer.

Current Perspectives on Taxanes: Focus on Their Bioactivity, Delivery and Combination Therapy

Jan Skubnik et al.

Summary: Taxanes, such as paclitaxel and docetaxel, are widely used as first-line therapy for breast cancer and other types of cancer. Despite their effectiveness, challenges like poor water solubility and severe side effects have led to research on developing novel taxane derivatives with improved properties. Ongoing clinical trials and advancements in combination therapy are also being explored to address chemoresistance in cancer treatment.

Molecular Mechanism Mediating Cytotoxic Activity of Cabazitaxel in Docetaxel-resistant Human Prostate Cancer Cells

Hiromitsu Watanabe et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the mechanism of action of cabazitaxel in docetaxel-resistant human CRPC cells. The results showed that cabazitaxel exerts its anti-tumor activity in docetaxel-resistant CRPC cells by inactivating persistently phosphorylated AKT, rather than down-regulating MAPK phosphorylation.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of third-line treatment on prognostic outcomes of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) patients. The results showed that third-line cabazitaxel treatment significantly prolonged PSA progression-free survival and overall survival for the patients, leading to improved prognostic outcomes.
