From Crystal Structures of RgIA4 in Complex with Ac-AChBP to Molecular Determinants of Its High Potency of α9α10 nAChR

Si Pan et al.

Summary: The study elucidates the critical role of alpha 9-containing nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in neuropathic pain and reveals the key residues of alpha 9 alpha 10 nAChR that determine their high affinity for RgIA/RgIA4 through co-crystal structure and molecular dynamic simulations. This provides valuable insights for designing new therapeutic approaches for neuropathic pain.

α-Conotoxin TxIB Inhibits Development of Morphine-Induced Conditioned Place Preference in Mice via Blocking α6β2*Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptors

Xiaodan Li et al.

Summary: Morphine, a common analgesic, has limited clinical application due to abuse potential. Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) in the brain play a key role in drug addiction. The study discovered a selective ligand, alpha-Conotoxin TxIB, which inhibits a specific type of nAChRs and may be useful in mitigating drug addiction.

Interactive Tree Of Life (iTOL) v5: an online tool for phylogenetic tree display and annotation

Ivica Letunic et al.

Summary: The Interactive Tree Of Life is an online tool for displaying, manipulating, and annotating phylogenetic and other trees. The latest version 5 introduces a new tree display engine and several new features, such as a new dataset type and expanded annotation options. Users can now also manually annotate trees by hand, providing more flexibility and control.

Design, Synthesis, and Activity of an α-Conotoxin LtIA Fluorescent Analogue

Yishuai Yang et al.

Summary: This study focused on the development of a fluorescent analogue LtIA-F of the α3β2 nAChR subtype that provides valuable pharmacological tools for exploring the structure-function relationship, distribution, and ligand binding domain of this receptor subtype. The LtIA-F exhibited potent inhibitory effects on ACh-evoked currents at the α3β2 nAChR, while maintaining stability and selectivity similar to native LtIA.

Massive gene rearrangement in mitogenomes of phytoseiid mites

Bo Zhang et al.

Summary: Mitochondrial gene sequences are widely used for phylogenetic inference in animals, with varying levels of gene rearrangements observed among taxa. Some families maintain the ancestral arthropod gene order, while others show highly divergent gene orders, particularly in the case of mites in the family Phytoseiidae. The high degree of mitochondrial gene rearrangement within this family suggests ongoing rearrangements in their mitogenomes.
